Places to Eat in Brightlingsea

Monday 29 January 2018

As Bed and Breakfast owners, our guests often ask us to recommend a place to eat.  Either for lunch or dinner, for a casual meal or a celebration.  And so it is important that we regularly visit the local eateries to update our knowledge on what’s available.  Or at least, that’s how I convince Darius to take me out to dinner!

In all seriousness, I am forever impressed with the food offering in Brightlingsea.  From Thai to Fish and Chips, Indian to Chinese, there really is something for everyone.

And unfortunately this causes me a problem when my family come to visit; we can NEVER agree on where to eat!

Mum’s Choice – No 1 Harbour Square

For my Mum, No 1 Harbour Square is her favourite.  Situated at waterfront, this restaurant has delightful views across the Marina, and in the summer – my Mother always says – is reminiscent of the South of France.  They serve a range of meals from afternoon tea to tapas and mezza, and have a FAB wine selection.  Perfect for a girly lunch or a night out!

Dad’s Choice – The Rosebud

My Dad is a BIG seafood fan, and I don’t think you’ll find a restaurant with a better seafood offering than The Rosebud.  They clearly put a lot of time and effort into developing their menus.  This traditional pub is situated on Hurst Green and offers delightful views over farmland and Brightlingsea Creek.  An absolute MUST for seafood lovers!

Amy’s Choice – Fork and Wine

My sister Amy is obsessed with the fillet steak at Fork and Wine.  This High Street restaurant is very close to our B&B – literally across the road – so is perfect if you don’t want a long walk (or stumble) home!  Serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and coffee, Fork and Wine is a fantastic addition to our little town and particularly good for large party bookings and celebrations (I speak from experience!).

And these are just three of a whole host of wonderful restaurants in Brightlingsea – the full list is below.

And so rest assured, if you do decide to visit our quaint little seaside town, you will be spoiled for choice when it comes to food!
